About Us

About Us

Welcome to Homegrown Mushrooms!  We are a family owned business operating in the heart of South Minneapolis. Hence we are located on land belonging to the Dakota and Anishanaabe peoples. This place that we call home has been named Bdeóta (Othúŋwe) “Many lakes (town)” in Dakota, Gakaabikaang “At the Waterfall” in Ojibwe, and Mąąnįco Horuzra “Place where you take blue clay from” in Hoocąk, according to the Decolonial Atlas.

Our goal is to bring you beautiful high quality mushroom products that are healthy for the environment and healthy for you.  To this end we focus on creating optimal conditions on our farm and harvest at a time that produces quality and flavor over percentage yield. Our "Spore to Store" approach means we grow our mushrooms from mycelium; we don't import substrate blocks as so many other growers do, thereby reducing our carbon footprint. Our products are grown and produced with 100% organic materials.  We are also coordinating with local organic farmers to share our spent substrate blocks to minimize waste.

We love to share the joy of mushrooms with our community.  We produce fresh and dried mushrooms, medicinal mushroom extracts and delicious mushroom jerky.   We are excited to soon offer grow kits and other mycology products so everyone can experience the joy of growing mushrooms in their own homes.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions that you may have.
